Zambia is a place to explore; it is impossible to put into the writing the atmosphere of Zambia. The country is rich in every aspect but there are some very poor people who live there and yet, their way of life seems to be priceless. There is a wealth of bird-life to match the great rivers and the wildlife is as impressive as the huge Zambian trees. Zambia hosts two great water features on its borders, the Victoria Falls in the South and Lake Tanganyika in the North. The people of Zambia are very interesting and taking a cultural tour inland allows you to experience the real Africa! A visit to Zambia should include a Tiger Fishing expedition on the Zambezi river but if wildlife is what you are after then make time to include the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, home to one of the greatest collections of wildlife in the world - including leopard, lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, hippo and more than 400 species of birds. There are many parks in Zambia such the Kafue National Park which is the oldest park but the special moments are when you see animals and birds in the wild where there are no fences and you can appreciate them as did the early pioneers. Hearing the beating of drums or gongs from the villages at night warn the local tribes of lion or elephant in the vicinity, here, to live life is to live among the animals. Those wanting to walk the wild should do so in Zambia as it is ideal for those who want to get out of a vehicle and really experience the thrill of the bush. The Luangwa Valley is where the walking safari was pioneered. Norman Carr took guests on foot in the 1950s and these expeditions have gone from strength to strength. Zambia is situated in central Southern Africa with Angola, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Congo, Tanzania, Malawi as neighbours. As the English discuss the weather, Zambians discuss the level of the river - incessantly. Through the three months of the rains the river rises and falls dramatically. The catchment area is vast and it could be raining hard in the far northern area of Zambia and a couple of days later the river rises considerably although they may have had blue skies for a week! No matter when you want to travel there is a destination in Zambia and what ever you would like to do, your Tour in and around Zambia will be breath-taking! |
